| Zanskar through
the back door |
| Few are privileged to venture
into the heart of the mysterious Zanskar valley, and those who
do find it to be one of the experiences of a lifetime. On this
new itinerary, we approach the valley from the southwest, ascending
the lush green valley of the Miyar nullah. At the head of this
valley, we cross the 17,800 ft. Kang La, or "Ice pass"
into the stark landscape of Zanskar. This is one of our most
challenging treks, as it involves extended snow walking and
2 nights of camping on a glacier. Dress warmly and enjoy this
breathtaking route far off the beaten track!. |

| Chadar Ice Trek |
| The ultimate adventure! For
just a few weeks each winter, the people of the remote Zanskar
valley are able to make their way to Ladakh's capitl of Leh
by following the frozen Zanskar river from their mountain stronghold
to its confluence with the Indus river. This year we have received
a special invitation to accompany one intrepid group on this
epic journey through the stark winter landscape. From Padum,
the capitol of Zanskar, a spectacular flight by helicopter over
the main Himalaya range takes us to Manali. This is not a journey
for everyone, but for those with a Himalayan-sized of adventure,
it is truly one of the world's greatest journeys. |

| Indus Valley Trek |
| The Indus valley of Ladakh has
been a thriving cultural center for millennia, and the small
villages that fill this fertile region are steeped in history.
Life continues much as it has for centuries in this region.
The walking on this journey is gentle and relaxing, with no
high pass crossings from village to village. This allows us
the additional time to explore the land to its fullest. |
